: Chair of DSM-5 expressed his scientifically based opinion on transgenderism, and got Twitter blocked for hate speech.
|
Ray Blanchard a Toronto-based PhD, specialist on paraphilia for DSM-5, expressed his scientifically based opinion on transgenderism. Blanchard stated the view expressed by the APA, which defines transgenderism as a "type of mental disorder." So Twitter locked his account, and likely would have banned him if there wasn't such a backlash. |

- Ray Blanchard is a Toronto-based PhD researcher who chaired the working group on paraphilia (sexual perversion and sexual deviation, which includes transgenderism) for the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition: DSM-5
- Ray made the criminal mistake of expressing his scientifically based opinion on transgenderism by stating the view expressed by the APA, which defines transgenderism as a "type of mental disorder."
- Twitter locked his account for hate speech, and likely would have banned him if there wasn't such a backlash.
- Certainly, if you or I quoted the DSM-5, we would have been blocked for the high crime of telling an uncomfortable truth that the far-left doesn't like. Even if not, the assumption that we would (and many sane people believe it) has a cooling effect on sharing the truth on Twitter.
